The Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents or grandparents for permanent residency. Once approved, your loved ones can enjoy all the benefits of Canadian life, including access to healthcare and the ability to eventually apply for citizenship.
How This Process Works
The PGP operates through an invitation system. Sponsors must first submit an interest to sponsor form, and if selected in the draw, they can submit a full sponsorship application.
The sponsor must:
Meet minimum income requirements for the past 3 years (based on family size)
Sign a 20-year undertaking to provide financial support
Be at least 18 years old and live in Canada
In some cases, if not selected for the PGP, applicants can consider a Super Visa as an alternative for long-term visits.
