The Spousal and Common-Law Sponsorship program allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their spouse or common-law partner for permanent residence. Whether your partner is in Canada or overseas, this program is designed to bring couples back together.
How This Process Works
There are two types of sponsorship:
Inland Sponsorship: If the spouse/partner is already in Canada
Outland Sponsorship: If the spouse/partner lives outside Canada
Processing times vary, but most applications are reviewed within 12 months. During the process, inland applicants may also be eligible for an open work permit.
